A knock off hits the spot

I am trying to cut back on (dairy) milk. It's not making 'the body good', not mine anyway... my stomach can't hang. So I've tested almond milk and this week, vanilla flavored rice milk. I remember my mom buying almond milk from time to time. No way was I using that with my Honey Bunches of Oats! I tried just a little of it and was not having it. My taste buds have...[ matured?] since those days. I drink it and I like it. I even use it to make hot chocolate--  it has that almond flavor to give it a little something-something. I was craving Horchata (cinnamon rice drink) today. So I combined some of the vanilla flavored rice milk, a little sprinkle of Splenda, a generous amount of cinnamon and whipped it with a stick blender... tres delicieux! Took care of that craving!  In California, you can most likely find this same exact milk  at your local 99cent store!

Good night all!

Its The Weekend!

The weather is delicious, my dad's feeling better, we did our Spring cleaning...its all gravy. Today I got to hang out with some of my friends from the hall. We had breakfast at a cool little spot called Planète Oeuf  (Planet Egg) . A lovely way to kick off the weekend. Good company, yummy food and nicely priced  at that-  my whole breakfast including coffee (with refills) and tax, was around 6 bucks! What did I eat? I had the Petit Appetit#1 One egg, 2 slices of whole wheat toast {I can eat buttered toast w/jam all day everyday, but that wont/should never happen}, 2 crepês, fruits, (yummy)home fries, and café. For a small appetite plate, it sure was a whole lot of food, I could not and did not finish it all. Only thing missing was my honey. And since the weather is so nice {notice I am showing arms...},afterwards I declined the offer for a ride home. I  walk/bussed it home. This gave me a chance to stop at a huge thrift store {I do likes me some thrift stores!}. Oh and I am finally accustomed to walking...Go to the Vietnamese shop to get us some sandwiches and on my way back hit up IGA for a whole wheat baguette? Sure, no biggy. Thank you Karinne for putting  together this breakfast outing. We most definitely have to do it more often.
Sorry for the poor quality shots, my camera isn't what it used to be.   Have a great weekend everybody!

Salmon Mayrita's Way

Via her sweet mother - in - law, my cousin Mayra prepares a salmon dish that I am sure gives her the warm fuzzies! And thats because it's a dish that her hubby Victor seems to enjoy quite well when she makes it. I  just love it when Abner  devours the  food I make (some hubbies might hum while they eat) and asks for more till there are no left overs because he finds it to be oh so delicious...I just love it!  Thank you so much Victor's mom for sharing this yummy recipe with my cousin and cousin, thank you for sharing it with me to remind me of You... Victor too! I  pictured you, Mayra, preparing the same dish- or close to the same dish-  in your own kitchen. When the smell filled the apartment, I wondered if it smells the same in yours when you make it. I thought of you guys sitting down to enjoy and I even pictured Victor eating and music instantly  filling the space- if you know what I mean ;)  I scarfed it down! It was so yummy! I love the flavors! The tartness of the lemon and that spice... oooooh weee! Primis I thought of you with every, single, huge, mouth, watering bite. ♡
 Ready for the oven
Ready for our tummies

Abner and I both enjoyed it very much and will be making it again and again.

Next  "your way" recipe will have to do with potatoes ;)

Have a great evening!
